Account Director

As Account Director on Nike, you will oversee R/GA’s engagement with a portfolio of sport and business categories. You will interface directly with Manager, Director and Senior Director clients, driving the engagement vision, managing client satisfaction and inspiring and challenging the agency teams that support them. In partnership with Production, you are responsible for marshaling the right agency resources to achieve our client's objectives and deliver sustained revenue stability and growth for R/GA.

On any given day you might

  • Own and drive the agency’s business relationship with clients with an eye toward maximizing revenue opportunity and long-term strategic influence
  • Actively build client relationships above the rhythms of project delivery to become a trusted advisor and thought partner across business, brand and marketing matters.
  • Consistently seek to identify and close (and pre-close) any client expectations + relationship gaps
  • Become a credible, respected and indispensable source to clients and agency teams for business intelligence, category/competitive insight and a broader field of vision across internal business units.
  • Leverage client knowledge to help agency teams operate with empathy on client circumstances (pain points, expectations, agendas, internal politics)
  • Maintain a regular cadence of 1:1 meetings and ask clients to talk through broader business, marketing, political and brand news/priorities/challenges that can help R/GA be more informed partners
  • Own and maintain an active client org chart, identifying client health, client budget and relationship influence, and interdependencies for key workstreams
  • Educate, engage and excite clients about broader R/GA Nike and non-Nike remit (Accelerator programs, Business Transformation, other points of integration within Nike, best work for other clients)
  • Maximize integration and feedback loops with R/GA Network offices by sharing business, project, and strategic insight that help local teams

Set up the agency for success on new engagements

  • Work upstream with clients to qualify, shape and strengthen upcoming briefs/opportunities for strategic rigor, and maximum Nike + R/GA business value
  • Lead the intake process by drafting opportunity briefs and onboard production partners and larger project teams.
  • Be a bridge to getting team questions answered and challenge clients without being challenging on strategy and KPIs.
  • Marshall the resources of the agency (services, disciplines and leadership) to win
  • Drive opportunity conversion by helping clients position and sell R/GA proposals, work and POV’s to their internal management
  • Maintain the Business Pipeline for all opportunities below 60% in weighted confidence

Provide oversight and ongoing client advocacy    

  • Maintain an oversight presence on project delivery–reviewing agency work at key internal checkpoints to represent a client’s perspective and participate in client milestone meetings
  • Serve as an escalation point for clients and internal teams to clear any project roadblocks and help our clients manage internal sell-in
  • Own the work stream vision (plot, plan and anticipate future phases) and propose match ups for evolving agency support, annual planning and strategic investments.

You Bring                 

  • 7-10 years of account management and/or marketing experience in an integrated marketing and/or digitally led marketing capacity
  • Experience in multi-channel, integrated work that demonstrates his/her versatility as a marketer and business leader
  • Experience supporting data-driven and performance-driven marketing programs. A knowledge and appreciation of how to apply data and analytics to the business
  • Strong aptitude for the role and impact of digital media and platforms
  • Exposure to a diverse mix of industry category verticals is a plus
