Manager, Business Development

Our Business Development team oversees our new business initiatives across the U.S. to meet the increasing demand for agency-of-record and project relationships. They identify, pursue and win strategic and tactical new business, and create a smooth transition for our new clients into the agency.

We are looking for a Manager, Business Development at R/GA in our San Francisco office to partner with our Executive Director, Growth (based in LA) who's charged with overseeing new business for all of our West Coast offerings. 

The individual is expected to be well connected and to be capable of identifying, pursuing and winning strategic and tactical new business opportunities. The successful candidate will be able to use his/her current depth of knowledge of digital and offline marketing and technology, along with a swiftly-acquired knowledge of agency (and local office) history, case studies, current business and strategic direction. S/he will help the team strategize the best response, the best solution, and the best proposal to the challenges on hand.

Here's what you should know if you want to be a Manager, Business Development at R/GA:

On any given day you might

  • Be an internal connector between all North American offices to make sure opportunities are properly distributed.
  • Ensure that our new business database is up-to-date and properly set up with notes including R/GA employees with past connections to prospects.
  • Develop/update new sales collateral along with marketing team.
  • Provide direct marketing to new business prospects.
  • Work to build prospects/contacts through attending events and mining databases  
  • Develop and maintains a prime prospect/contact list
  • Have contact with companies on the prospect list.
  • Build a relationship between agency and key prospects.
  • Create opportunities to pitch new accounts.
  • Coordinate presentation/pitch approaches.
  • Research prospects.
  • Organize, direct and make physical arrangements for presentations.

The ideal person

  • Has experience in the Bay Area advertising and technology industries, as well as knowledge of local networking events
  • Has previous marketing or business development experience within an advertising agency or creative service/consulting business
  • Has a solid track record of developing successful relationships

You bring

  • At least 5-6 years experience in a similar role
  • Agency experience is a must
  • Strong presentation skills
